Walking in a Winter Wonderland

...or riding my bike in, more like.
(and also living in... its an average 40 degrees inside my apartment these days, so my "brrr" post was a bit premature)

I feel tremendously guilty about my failure to post this past month, but in my defense, I've been incredibly busy. Immediately following my last post, I went to Tokyo Disneyland for the first time. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas and not as crowded as I had expected, so we had a great time. That weekend I also wandered all the way to the end of the shopping street and paid a visit to the Asakusa Kannon for the first time (which is notable because my train in and out of Tokyo goes through Asakusa, so there's no good reason for me to have avoided one of Tokyo's most famous temples for nearly 4 months). I crammed for the better part of the next week in order to take a big Japanese test that is only offered once a year--and I really hope that I passed. After that, its been a blur for me. I've been doing a lot of Christmas card making and carol singing in elementary school and kindergarten, which is a lot of fun for me under any circumstance, but especially in Japan. I feel so far away from Christmas here.

Next week is the end of the fall term, so I'll be showing How the Grinch Stole Christmas to my junior high schoolers at Minami, making Christmas cards galore and attending the Christmas party at Minami kindergarten (which I'm very excited about!), then an end of the year party with one of my junior high school faculties. I promise to be a good picture taker this week. After school gets out on Thursday I'm heading into Tokyo for a few days before leaving for Thailand! I'm so excited for warm weather, beaches, and travel... lots of pictures to come in early January.
