first steps

I’ve finally decided that my upcoming move to Japan is an adequate justification for adding my voice to the chorus of blogs, xangas and livejournals already being written. That said, I offer no guarantee that my posts will be interesting or funny, but hope instead that they will help me stay connected to family and friends across the dateline. I plan to update as often as possible, and will try to find a middle ground between divulging personal philosophy and boring readers with the minutiae of my daily life. I expect my time in Japan to be as challenging as it is fascinating, but I am confident that I will have a lot to share along the way.

Now all I need is a better blog title…any suggestions?
